Western Collection
A collection of low relief sculptures and Modernist paintings showcasing the Great American West's flora, fauna and history
Reflections on my Western Collection
After three years abroad, living and sculpting in Japan, I relocated to the stunning American West - to establish a studio and continue my life as an artist in Southern Colorado's Rocky Mountain Front Range.
Whether, the desert, the canyonlands, the prairie, mesas, foothills or high peaks - what Colorado has to offer never ceases to inspire me.
As with wherever I have set down roots, I am drawn to venture forth into that which surrounds me and to allow the integrity of actually experiencing my world, guide my creativity.
What a land to study surfaces in, to wander waters and plunge my mind beneath them, to sit quietly watching, waiting and listening to what might be granted to me as a gift - and at that crossroads, to seek to abide and be authentically affected!
This land is precious and intricate - its history rich and its native and natural inhabitants remarkable. Would that I can do some justice to the complexity of this captivating place. This then is the humble ambition of My Western Collection.
