“I am the great Bennu who is in Iunu.”
In ancient Egypt, this text links the Bennu bird with Osiris. The bird’s form becomes a doorway to a meaning beyond what the eye can see.
A bird spreads its wings, its feet still close to the water. Its whole body takes part in the ascent, and the movement bears the trace of effort.
A moment of takeoff suspended in time, and above the wings, a sun that will never set.
What do we see in the moment of takeoff: the beauty of flight, or the effort that makes it possible?
