" These days, it’s not easy to come across sculptors like Jeremiah Daniel Welsh.
The expressive technique he has chosen, bas-reliefs, is ancient, yet today few are able to master it with such skill.
In an increasingly virtual world, a real sculpture - one that begins as a two-dimensional form and then emerges from a surface of modeling clay to stir our emotions - is a gift for everyone. His artworks possess a lyrical power that touches the deepest chords of the human soul.
The bronze casting infuses warmth and life into his subjects, never repetitive, delicate yet strong at the same time, in which one can discern the Japanese elegance and gentleness absorbed during the three years Welsh spent in Tokyo.
His artworks, especially those depicting animals and plants from a vanishing Western world, possess a naturalistic precision in reproducing reality, infused with the vitality of movement. Welsh presents us with a dynamic and timeless beauty reminiscent of the vases by Émile Gallé, an Art Nouveau revolutionary capable of endowing glass with a profound three-dimensionality, both material and visual. Furthermore, Welsh moves us with the monochromatic quality of his bas-reliefs, whether in bronze, resin, or other materials, because they allow the viewer to interpret his artworks by coloring them with their own imagination."
