NEWS - June 2022 - #1

What a remarkable honor it is to be part of this article! & what an incredible surprise it was to find full-page placements of my work accompanied by such insightful dialogue! Especially in the 200th Anniversary Issue of American Art Collector - Absolutely Splendid!!

My sincerest thanks to Mr. John O’Hern for the thoughtfulness & graciousness of his article - as well as to American Art Collector Magazine! Such an honor!

In truth, I am thrilled to have my Modernist painting “Mountain Song” pictured & discussed opposite my bronze relief of the same subject, "Bugler on the Ridge.” What a poignant manifestation of my artistic growth concept: One Artist /Two Visions ...

AMERICAN ART COLLECTOR'S
200th ANNIVERSARY ISSUE

As many of you know, I have set for myself the challenge of “re-learning” my realist subject matter - Delving into its elemental shape-planes through the vision of Modernism, (primarily) in oil on canvas.

My explorations in Modernism have allowed me to re-embrace wonderment - & to explore symbols, archetypes & the beauty of elemental geometry resident in nature through a re-evaluation & distillation of the knowledge that I have garnered during my 24 years as a Realist sculptor.

I am proud of what has developed and I am thrilled by Mr. O’Hern’s validation of my undertakings in this medium & voice!

Thank you Mr. O’Hern! Thank you, American Art Collector! I feel so lucky - I am so honored! JD

How apt the dialogue for Bugler on the Ridge now seems:

“If one is to speak, let it be bold, earnest & honest - resounding with conviction and determination … & let it resonate with the wonderful uniqueness of one individual spirit  marking its fleeting place amidst the flow of time’s passage.”  JD Welsh
