NEWS - July 2022 - #1

Exciting news!!! My sculpture "Ridge Fire Refuge" has been juried into the National Museum of Wildlife Art's summer exhibition called, "Above the Clouds: Art of the Alpine"

This  immersive exhibition consists of 36 different artists from Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and Montana - each sharing their unique visions of the beauty, resilience and fragility of the remarkable flora and fauna within alpine ecosystems.

The show opens on June 25th from 5-7PM and will also include the latest in the NMWA Bisoncast video series called "Above the Clouds". This premier event is FREE and open to the public (made possible by First Republic Bank).

Ridge Fire Refuge's sculpture dialogue reads:

“This sculpture is a reflection upon the resilience of mountain bighorn sheep that are displaced from their alpine homes by fast moving fires which year to year sweep through our high country here in Colorado - forcing these powerful and tenacious creatures from their rocky ridgeline fastnesses.

It is a work that manifests alpine animals in their fight for survival against insurmountable and unforgiving shifts in our ever-changing world - and through it I also seek to address the broader realities of displacement in times of turmoil as well as the fortitude and flexibility that is required to endure against formidable odds.” JDW
